Types of Acuvue Contact Lenses
Acuvue contact lenses come in a variety of styles suitable for different people and lifestyles. Contact lenses can be hard or soft and are worn to correct vision disorders like nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, or presbyopia. They can replace bifocals or even enhance or change eye color.
The majority of contact lenses are hydrophilic or 'soft' lenses. This means that they are made of water. They are very thin and allow oxygen to reach the eye surface. It is possible for most people to wear Acuvue contact lenses, even very young children, or babies! Many people start wearing them in their teens but even children as young as eight can care for their lenses without help.
Acuvue contact lenses are available in four main categories. Acuvue has all of them in stock to suit your individual requirements and preferences. The options you can choose from are:
1) Spherical (regular) contact lenses: This type of lens can correct near-sightedness (myopia) and far-sightedness (hyperopia). The vast majority of people who wear contact lenses will wear this type of lens. Acuvue contact lenses in this category include ACUVUEŽ ADVANCETM with HYDRACLEARTM, ACUVUEŽ 2, 1*DAY ACUVUEŽ, and ACUVUEŽ 2 COLOURSTM.
2) Contact lenses for astigmatism: This type of lens can adjust for astigmatism. It does this by compensating for the natural eye shape. These contact lenses can replace glasses for astigmatism. Acuvue contact lenses in this category include ACUVUEŽ ADVANCETM Brand contact lenses for astigmatism. They are comfortable and provide good vision correction.
3) Contact lenses for presbyopia: This type of contact lens is like a bifocal. Presbyopia is an inability to focus sharply for near vision. Acuvue contact lenses in this category are called ACUVUEŽ Brand Bifocal Contact Lenses
. They are comfortable and work well to correct presbyopia. They can be worn instead of regular contacts plus reading glasses - a solution often used in the past.
4) Color (cosmetic) contact lenses: This type of contact lens is the same as regular spherical contacts except for the fact that they contain a special color layer within the lens. This colored lens blends with your natural eye color but doesn't make contact with the eye itself. You can use these lenses over light, dark eyes, or 20/20 eyes. Acuvue contact lenses with color pigments are called ACUVUEŽ 2 COLOURSTM and are available in ten shades. Three for light eyes, and seven for both light and dark eyes.
Acuvue contact lenses offer a variety of options for wear namely: daily wear, continuous wear and daily Disposable Contact Lenses
